Andrew Fleck's Difference Maker

Conference: Hampton Inn in Ottawa on November 3rd 2011.

In 2011, Andrew Fleck Child Care Services in Ottawa had their 100th Conference.

They chose 100 people in Ottawa that were making a difference in the community.

Tommy was 9 years old and honoured with the title " Difference Maker".

Tommy and Melanie are invited back in 25 years for the opening of time capsule.

Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal

Ceremony: Manotick Public School in Ottawa on February 23th 2012.

In 2012, on behalf of His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, Tommy was awarded the " Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Award" for his work. Tommy was 10 years old. The medal can only be worn on special occasions like Remembrance Day and Canada Day. The medal must be worn with a suit.

Ontario Junior Citizen of the Year Award

Ceremony: Suite of Lieutenant Governor of Ontario in Toronto on March 6th 2014.

In 2014, Tommy received the " 2013 Ontario Junior Citizen of the Year Award" coordinated by the Ontario Community Newspaper Association ( OCNA) and sponsored by TD and Direct energy. A tour and lunch was served at the TD Tower on the 54th floor. The ceremony was hosted by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, His Honour David C. Onley. Tommy was 11 years old.

Ottawa Spirit of the Capital Youth Award

Ceremony: Jean Pigott Place at City Hall in Ottawa on June 4th 2015.

Tommy was chosen as a finalist for the 18th Annual Spirit of the Capital Youth Awards. Since 1997, Youth Ottawa has been the proud host of the Spirit of the Capital Youth Awards. The Spirit Awards Night is an annual event that celebrates the extraordinary accomplishments of youth who are making our community, and the world, a better place. Tommy was 12 years old and chosen for the category below:

Category: TAKES A STAND AWARD awarded to an individual who has demonstrated leadership, courage, and creativity while advocating for social justice and positive change locally, nationally, or globally.

Meeting Prime Minister

Tommy and Melanie were invited to meet Prime Minister, Stephen Harper on August 16, 2015.

The event took place at the Westin in Ottawa.

Tommy was 12 years old. Melanie was 15 years old.

Manotick Messenger's Person of the Year Award

Ceremony: Legion Branch #314 on January 5, 2016.

Tommy was chosen as the Manotick Messenger's person of the year award for 2015.

The Messenger has served Manotick and surrounding communities in Osgoode, Rideau and South Gloucester for 30 years. Tommy and Melanie were invited to the Legion for dinner. The ceremony was hosted by Kiwanis. Tommy was 13 years old.

United Way Community Builder Award

Tommy received the community building award. Dylan Black was the award presenter from Boom 99.7. Tommy's name will be inscribed on the Wall of Inspiration located in Jean Pigott Hall at Ottawa City Hall. The Wall of Inspiration is a visible reminder to residents and visitors of the enduring commitment that these individuals and organizations have made to Ottawa.

Tommy was 13 years old.

Celebration of People Award

Ceremony: Conference Center Ottawa on December 1, 2016

Melanie was chosen as a finalist for the Celebration of People Award. It's an annual awards program and dinner event held each year to recognize the achievements and contributions of individuals, businesses and organizations promoting accessibility, inclusion and full community participation by citizens with disabilities. Each year the event is closely aligned with December 3rd – designated by the United Nations as International Day of Personswith Disabilities.
